In My Own Words
By Clare T. Wilson, DVM
I was fortunate to have grown up in a family that allowed and encouraged me to pursue my love of both animals and science. From the time I was a young girl nursing fallen fledglings in a shoebox to rescuing a litter of orphaned kittens from a nearby highway, it was evident that animals were my passion. I have loved and lived with some extraordinary animals and they were my inspiration for becoming a veterinarian.
I am thankful for the incredible education I received at Auburn University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. They taught not only care and respect for animals but also for the people who cherished them.
Since starting practice in 1985 I have kept every card and letter from thankful animal lovers who were both gracious and generous with their praise. I am humbled by their appreciation for what I consider a labor of love, an honor and a privilege. They have taught me how cats enrich our lives, that a gentle voice and a soft touch are a cat doctor’s best friends, and that cat lovers feel that same special intimacy with their cats that I have felt with mine- a bond so deep it is impossible to verbalize, but is understood among all cat lovers.
Hence, the motto “loving care for the cats we love”.
